Cuppy's "friend" goes Down!!~~~ by Guest
NORTHWEST FLORIDA BUSINESSMAN SENTENCED TO FOUR YEARS IN FEDERAL PRISON FOR TAX FRAUD Pensacola, Florida - Gregory R. Miller, United States Attorney for the Northern District of Florida, announced that Roy P. Snowden was sentenced today on conviction for five counts of Evasion of Payment of Income Taxes and one count of Conspiracy to Defraud the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). Snowden admitted during his November 2006 plea hearing that he was a businessman engaged in a variety of marketing and investment-type ventures, including a magazine distribution business. He had most recently been manufacturing and selling “Java Jo’z” drive-thru coffee businesses. The indictment and factual basis for pleas further proved that his wife was named president and director of the Ft. Walton Beach business, though the indictment alleges she had little to do with its operation. Snowden admitted that he failed to file accurate and timely income tax returns from 1992 through 1997, and was subsequently assessed taxes by the IRS. After the tax assessment, Snowden admitted he transferred businesses and placed assets in others’ names, and created corporate entities which he used in part to transfer and hold money and property out of the reach of the IRS. Senior United States District Judge Lacey A. Collier sentenced Snowden to 48 months (four years) imprisonment, to be followed by three years of supervised release, and to pay a special monetary assessment of $100 per count of conviction. Judge Collier further ordered Snowden to pay $1.16 million restitution to the IRS. To date, Snowden has already paid over $900,000 of that restitution to the IRS. The investigation was conducted by IRS Criminal Investigation. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Michelle M. Heldmyer. ______________________
Don't take the bait by Guest

Congrats to Sean.

As Mr. MauMau can attest, and as seen in Sean's article on his own website, there is a concerted attack on free speech.

And I would suggest to Mr. MauMau that he not take the bait and go into any detail about what his computer experts found out and what steps were taken to address the situation. You don't need to give people a roadmap for the next attack.

Sean Kelly's Self-Serving Posts by Truth in Franchising

Why is Sean Kelly shouting from the mountain top? Is he a prophet or profiteer? Is he just promoting his client franchisors by driving traffic to his Franchise Picks website and elevating the crediibility of his guide "The Best Undiscovered Franchise Opportunities"?

Will Erase Your Post If Your Truth Is Inconvenient by Bob Frankman

Great post and responses. When Scoble was asked "what happened, your post [on Java Jo'z] is gone. Did you let them scare you off? Tell me it isn't so!!", he replied:
"I can't comment on this issue, sorry." (Posted January 27, 2007 at 11:12 am

That is coming from someone who believes passionately in the power of not deleting past blogs saying, "Blogs should never be erased - for any reason. That breaks the Web."

How else can we respond to this BUT...

Attention blogosphere! Help put the cats back. Help! They disappear when they unflatteringly meow the name of Colonel Mustard, who is mysteriously in the same room with a candelabra in hand.

Fact or Fiction? by Dale Nabors

I agree with Paul that Mr. Blue MauMau should not provide anyone with security information regarding his servers and or the use of BlueMaumau.  However, being that the last official Blue Maumau statement was early morning on Thursday the 25th, an official update seems like would be in order.

As a regular participant on BlueMaumau I’d like to know if the technical issues have been resolved so that the site can be used for and in the manner in which it was intended.  I also think that if Mr. Blue Maumau has knowledge which would indicate that the alleged events are untrue, or unfounded, it would be proper to bring to an end the speculation.  If there is in fact evidence of a person or persons intentionally trying to sabotage the website, that BlueMaumau should also disclose that information without mentioning any names of those persons or the methods which were used in such efforts.

As for Mr. Kelly’s post….I found it to be wild speculation and without any substantial substance.  The only thing that I got from his post was that he now thinks people are simply vanishing.  I guess it’s alien abductions, after all this whole thing seems to be a work of fiction.  I guess it never crossed Mr. Kelly's mind that perhaps, when what appears to now be the truth came out, that those individuals wanted to distance themselves from the entire situation.  Perhaps on good advice of their own legal counsel.

This is exactly what you would expect if the Scobles were threatened with a defamation lawsuit; take down the post and issue some vague apology, complete with confidentiality agreement.

Pity that Ben didn't get better legal advice about bankrupcty before posting.

Pity that Ben didn't put the deposit in trust, in the first place.

But a real shame that the Scobles didn't visit Blue Mau Mau or Franchise-Chat and ask something about how to do franchise due diligence.

Great sense of humor! I have no disagreement with your choice of characterization. And I guess you are simply that obvious with your goals, intentions and overt shameless self-promotion.

Profiteer by Paul Steinberg

$189 per month times 12 months = $2,268 per store
104 stores times 2,268 = $ 235,872 per year

That's math.

Not "adrenaline". Not "testosterone". Not any other ad hominem attack. Just math.

To any franchisees I would say "Beware of Geeks bearing gifs"

And if you think that's a typo, you are in way over your head.

Word to the wise.

Your math is good, Your allegations are not! by Dale Nabors
Paul: There's no need to attack me. Although I've disagreed with you, I've never tried to disrespect you. Your comments here are unecessary, uncalled for, and it would seem as though a logical argument /rebuttal to your comments upset you. Our offer to the Cuppy's franchisees was at 1/2 price and would result in a LOSS for our company but we believe that those who take us up on the offer will benefit and we will recover in future years. Don't make an enemy out of me! We don't have to always agree, with one another...but if we're trying to raise the bar here at Bluemaumau....you seem to have missed the memo.
