The Oil Change Guys Give Reasons Why Not to Franchise
Aiding Terrorists and Compliance to Sarbanes-Oxley Cited
THE INTERNET (Blue MauMau) - The Oil Change Guys, a provider of onsite vehicle care, has had enough of franchising. Their website states, "We are not currently offering franchises to the public. Our focus is to set up company owned units across the US and eventually the world."
The site gives a list of reasons for the firm moving away from franchising.
- Required disclosure might help international terrorists
- 'Sarbaines' Oxley and accounting reporting cost increases
- Multiple state franchise registration laws out of sync
- Disclosure laws require the giving out of personal information about franchisees
- Litigiousness of franchising and absence of tort reforms in the U.S. and Canada
The site continues, "We have chosen a new strategy along the lines of a Starbucks, Home Depot, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Federal Express type scenario where we can exert more control and less red tape to insure higher standards and smoother business operations... If you would like to discuss how to set up your own business we are willing to assist you with information on how to get this done for yourself, but not as part of our team or a franchise."
But the firm still wants its brand to go global and is looking for co-operative branding partners. The site concludes, "We are open to new ideas to help us market our Brand Name through out the World. If you are interested in helping us gain World-Wide Market Share, you may also email our Founder Mr. Lance Winslow."
The same reasons for not franchising are given in an affiliated site, The Car Wash Guys.
