Wendy's new boss, Triarc Cos., announced new strategy plans to target older customers, increase the cost of its value menu and improve such items as french fries, as its new owner takes control.
Another key to improving sales will be remodeling thousands of Wendy's restaurants, which have become tired looking compared with competitors such as McDonald's. The credit crunch is likely to make that more difficult for franchisees who need to borrow money to fund the renovations.
