Wendy's and Panera Bread Are Big Winners

5,500 participants voted in the first Zagat/Today Show Fast-Food Survey on everything from the best burger to mascot. So who are the big winners? Wendy's and Panera Bread both won first in three categories, food, facilities and overall within their sector. Wendy's founder, Dave Thomas, would be proud.

• Best Burger? Wendy's
• Best Fries? McDonald's
• Best Healthy Food? Subway

Participants typically ate at fast-food restaurants twelve times or more a month so they knew their fast-foods. And here are a few memorable observations while rating the food / service / facility. Really.

• FOOD: "Good-tasting, if only until your left ventricle finally gives out."
• SERVICE: "Staff seems in some sort of psychic pain."
• FACILITY: "The only thing healthy about the place is the exit door."
• OVERALL: "E. coli is free with every order."
