THE NEWS IS BAAAACK!! They tried but couldn't take it away

The Blue MauMau site, a news service for franchisees and small business owners, suffered a malicious software attack the Sunday before last, causing the site to be unavailable until this evening (Monday).

The attack was not aimed at, nor did it spread viruses to the personal computers of visitors. The database information of registered members and commenters was untouched. However, the server operating system was corrupted and spam issued from the site. As per Blue MauMau's policy, the specifics of the incident were reported to the authorities.

The site has been meticulously scrubbed clean, software upgraded and new hardware and security measures put in place.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Welcome back!

Is it coincedence

It seems whenever there is a discussion on Discovery Point or one of the similar childcare franchises, which make money from SBA guaranteed loans, there is a serious malicious attack on this site. Anyone else see other correlations? These childcare franchises sell multi-million dollar buildings with disguised business names and have no responsibility other than collecting the royalty. Some take fixed royalty like Discovery Point and that means franchisees pay them even if the so called proven business is absent.

which coincidence?

Visitor wonders: "It seems whenever there is a discussion on Discovery Point or one of the similar childcare franchises, which make money from SBA guaranteed loans, there is a serious malicious attack on this site. "

Uhh, could it be Visitor is perchance a disgruntled DP F'see whose world is filled with DP and can see little else? Cuz there are frequent comments about Discovery Point, as well as about Quiznos and Cold Stone and Candy Bouquet and PMD Furniture and some foot/shoe chain, etc. etc. etc. At least card key fitness seems to have died down.  For now.

MOST F'sors discussed on BMM get money from F'sees taking out SBA loans. So that hardly narrows it down.  Hey, something negative about franchising was posted on BMM, and then the site was attacked! Hey, something negative about some franchise or another is posted here every day.

That it would specifically be Discovery Point? Can't "prove a negative" but seems very unlikely, I guess someone who "lost everything" to DP thinks DP is a big deal, but in the overall scheme of things they are pretty small potatoes. Sometimes a hack is just a hack.

Glad to see you back

We are glad that you survived the attack.
