Class Action (Finally) Approved for Century 21 franchisees

Century 21's franchisees have been granted class action status in their case against Century 21 Real Estate and their former parent firm Cendant.

This is an 8 year old case that claims hundreds of millions of dollars were misappropriated from the national advertising fund by Cendant.  The New Jersey State Superior Court's decision will affect thousands of franchisees across the country:

"The plaintiffs now include those who were Century 21 franchisees at any time between August 1995 and April 2002."  Star Ledger

Cendant plans to "aggressively defend against these erroneous claims".  Century 21 is now Realogy, a Cendant spinoff.

It almost sounds as if

such erroneous claims are a rare figment. I must admit I haven't heard of any similar allegations in franchising for days.
