Yum Hires Chris Turner as CFO

Yum Brands, Inc. announced Wednesday that it has hired Chris Turner, 44, to be its new chief financial officer, beginning August 8, 2019. Responsible for finance, corporate strategy, supply chain, and information technology, Turner will report directly to chief executive officer Greg Creed. He will replace David Gibbs in that position, who is currently Yum’s president, chief operating officer, and the chief financial officer.

Yum Brands is the holding company to restaurant brands KFC, Pizza Hut and Taco Bell, which collectively have over 48,000 restaurants, largely franchised, in 145 countries and territories.

Turner most recently served as senior vice president of PepsiCo in leading a number of its major retailing initiatives, such as its retail and e-commerce businesses with Walmart. Before that, Turner worked for more than 13 years with business consulting firm McKinsey & Company, where he led its restaurant service line and retail operations team. Turner holds an MBA from Stanford University and a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering from the University of Arkansas.

“From his time at PepsiCo to his years at McKinsey & Company, Chris brings nearly 20 years of strategy, finance, M&A and operations leadership to Yum Brands,” said chief executive officer Greg Creed. “We are confident that Chris’ commercial experience with iconic consumer-oriented companies, particularly across the quick-service restaurant and retail sectors, will prove instrumental as we drive global growth, leveraging our unprecedented scale and maximizing value for our customers, franchisees, employees and shareholders.”
