Once upon a time I bought a franchise to learn about franchising. What I learned is there are lots of franchisors you can't trust, that many have a churn & burn model, and while I thought I'd roll my new business out as a franchise (why I bought in the first place), I never want to be a franchisor.
Right now I'm fighting termination without sale, that franchisor says they support ... but only if I sign away rights for my other business, to sell marketing services to fellow franchisees. They need the help as the franchisor has failed to deliver an eNewsletter and more.
